1968 - 50th Reunion (May 31 - June 3, 2018)

December, 2017

Dear Classmates:

Well it’s almost here, our 50th Reunion. This is the Big One, not to be missed! So, save the date and plan on being in New Haven next year, May 31-June 3, 2018.

Your Reunion Committee has been hard at work planning a jam-packed, exciting mixture of social events, faculty lectures, class panels – and most important, the chance to renew old friendships and relive those “Bright College Years.”

Our Reunion headquarters and gatherings for most meals will be Davenport College. The reunion will kick off with a golf outing at "The Course at Yale" Thursday morning for early arrivals, with a shotgun start at 8:30 am, followed by afternoon class programs. Cocktails and a buffet dinner in the Davenport courtyard will conclude the first day.

Note that the Freshman Commons will be closed for construction. Therefore, on Friday night we will have our Class Dinner under the tent on the Old Campus; and on Saturday after dinner at Davenport, we have arranged for a great dance band playing music of our era. The reunion will close on Sunday with breakfast.

A number of fascinating speakers and topics for our class programs are being lined up now. One will feature a captivating look back at the Brewster years and our class, complete with video clips, by Professor Geoffrey Kabaservice, who has written a book on the subject. John Wilkinson, the associate dean of Yale College in 1968, will also participate, along with others.

If you have suggestions or ideas for panels, we’d love to hear from you. Please send along to the email addresses listed below. We’ll update you they are firmed up.

Surviving spouses and partners are welcome as guests of the class and will pay no reunion or campus housing fees. Financial assistance is also available on a confidential basis for all classmates.

Please let your classmates know if you are coming

Reunion registration will not officially open till early next spring. In the meantime, please let your classmates know if you’re planning to come. Click on "Pre-Register Now!" to add your name, and on "Who's Planning to Come" to see who else has signed up.

Over 500 of your classmates now included in the Class Book

In the early Spring, you will receive our fabulous 50th Reunion Class Book edited by Steve Weisman and a team of classmates. Once you get it, you’ll surely want to read up on your classmates and attend the Reunion. In addition to the 500 class mates who responded, we have in-depth profiles for 147 of those who are deceased.

We are also planning numerous pre-reunion lunches around the country next winter and spring. You will be contacted directly regarding events in your area.  These will also be posted under Pre-Reunion Events on our class website: www.yale1968.org.

The most important part of the reunion is you!  So, please plan on coming to New Haven next spring. We are all enriched by each other’s attendance.

Warm regards,
