1972 - 40th (May 31-June 3, 2012)

Class of 1972
40th Reunion – May 31-June 3, 2012

February 2012

Dear Classmates and Friends,

Join us for our 40th reunion headquartered at centrally located and beautifully restored Branford College, from dinner on Thursday, May 31 through breakfast on Sunday June 3, 2012.

We aim to make our 40th reunion rendition socially enjoyable, intellectually stimulating, diverse in its appeal to interest groups within our class and a real good use of your valuable time and money. If you attend, we promise you a fun, memorable, and meaningful weekend back in New Haven.

The enclosed reunion program provides details, but highlights of the weekend include:

  • A kick-off dinner at the co-educated and restored Mory’s complete with appropriate Yale songsters.
  • A Class of ’72 series of presentations by classmates Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, venture capital standout Bing Gordon, environmentalist Mary Pearl, architectural critic Paul Goldberger, surgeon John Elefritades and wine expert Ben Giliberti.
  • Music at our Friday evening “Come as You Were” dinner from classmate Ken Barish’s jazz quintet.
  • Our elegant class dinner on Saturday evening complete with tasty raw bar and the danceable music of classmate Dr. Fred Gale’s Regressions.
  • Our class memorial service in beautiful and nostalgic Battell Chapel on Friday afternoon.
  • A ’72 Women’s Reception in Branford during cocktails on Saturday night.
  • A videography project throughout the weekend organized by William “Sam” Sneed offering each of us the opportunity to be interviewed and posted on our YouTube channel.
  • Tasteful reunion gear you’ll want to wear and use with pride for years to come.
  • All the great activities, intellectual, cultural and social organized by the University and the AYA.

If you do not wish to stay at Branford (less Spartan than in our day and a great deal at $118 per person for three nights) you should make a hotel reservation now, using the list on this Web site of nearby hotels where Yale has reserved blocks of rooms at reduced rates and to which Yale will provide shuttle service during the reunion.

Your decision to come will encourage others to join us. High attendance is the single greatest factor in all of us having a great experience. Call your friends, teammates, singing buddies, political fellow-travelers and the guy you always mean to get to know better, and encourage them to come as well.  Surviving spouses and partners are welcome as guests of the class and will pay no reunion or campus housing fees.

Delay no more. Attend our reunion and give yourself a chance to enjoy one of your greatest accomplishments: BEING A YALIE!!! Looking forward to seeing you in New Haven..
