Getting to New Haven and Around Campus

Information about trains, airports, parking, and Reunion Shuttles

By Car
Please see the Campus Maps, Directions & Parking section of this Web site for information about parking, directions to Pierson-Sage Garage (where alumni may park for free for the weekend) and campus maps.

By Train
New Haven’s Union Station is served by both Metro North (800-638-7646) and Amtrak (800-USA-RAIL). The Reunion Shuttle and Yale Transit bus pick up arrivals at the train station and Pierson-Sage Garage two to three times an hour throughout the weekend. Look for "Yale College Reunions" signs on buses and vans. During peak times, there may be an additional wait if a given Shuttle is full. If you prefer, you may also call a taxi for the short ride to campus, at (203) 777-7777. Lyft and Uber are also available in New Haven.

By Air
Tweed-New Haven airport, offering jet service from US Airways, is the closest to campus – 10 minutes by taxi or reunion shuttle (departures only).  Bradley International Airport, which is just north of Hartford and the New York area airports including:

are accessible by airport transportation sercices which bring travelers to a central campus location.  Advanced registration is strongly encouraged; identify yourself as attending Yale Reunions to make a reservation for both arrival and departure.

Arriving in New Haven
Your ultimate destination when you arrive in New Haven will be your class reunion headquarters (for hours, see Weekend Schedule).  Please arrive at the gate serving as the college's main entrance.  This gate will be marked by a large reunion banner; other college gates are usually locked.  Main entrances are located as follows:

Branford: York St.
Davenport: York St.
Jonathan Edwards: High St. (unload on York St.)
Old Campus: College or High St.
Pierson: York St.
Silliman: College St.
Timothy Dwight: Temple St.

At headquarters, you will receive final programs and name badges. Those staying on campus will receive room assignments and keys.

Alumni staying in the college who arrive by train or air should go directly to headquarters.  If arriving by car, we recommend that you park at Pierson-Sage Garage and take the Reunion Shuttle to Headquarters.

Late Arrivals
If you will be staying on campus and arriving after headquarters closes, arrangements can be made in advance for us to greet you.  Please note your estimated arrival time in the space for special housing requests when you register.  Late arrivals who are staying at a hotel may check in at the hotel at any time.  We look forward to welcoming you at reunion headquarters the following morning.

Parking
For day and overnight visitors, AYA recommends parking in Yale's Pierson-Sage Garage on Whitney Ave. north of the Peabody Museum and using the Reunion Shuttle to get around campus.  Parking on the street is subject to meters, ticketing and towing; public lots and garages are usually not open 24 hours a day or on Sunday; and Yale lots have either limited or no access.  (See Campus Maps, Parking and Directions for more information.)

Reunion Shuttle
The reunion shuttle picks up approximately twice an hour at reunion headquarters, Pierson-Sage Garage, the corner of College and Wall Streets, reunion hotels, and Baker Hall (formerly New Residence Hall). Simply go to the nearest of any of these pick-up points for a ride to any reunion venue.

Parents bringing children should note that Connecticut state law requires the use of car seats for young children.  Reunion Shuttles are not equipped with car seats, so families using the Shuttle should bring their own or ride at their own risk.

Please note: There are permanent Yale Transit signs at various locations around campus; these are for the University’s buses travelling on set routes, and do not designate stops for the reunion shuttle.
