Class of 1984 35th Reunion - Program Highlights - 1984

May 30 - Jun 2, 2024

Here are some of the exciting activities planned for reunion weekend!

Class Programs

Class programs – those events planned by and for each class – include a wide range of activities, such as classmate panels, faculty lectures, tours, concerts, family-friendly events, and memorial services. Reunion chairs are hard at work planning your programs; please feel free to pass along any suggestions.

Reunion meals under the tent are among the most enjoyable aspects of the weekend. Most lunches and dinners are buffets offering a variety of entrées, side dishes, salads, and desserts. The traditional Class Dinner is a highlight of reunions, with the most classmates in attendance; it is scheduled as noted below:

  • Friday evening: 1954, 1959, 1964, 1969
  • Saturday evening: 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, 1999, 2004, 2009, 2014

Meet Me at Mory's

Plan to meet your friends at Mory’s, the place to be on Thursday night as the doors are thrown open for returning alumni. Complimentary food, cash bar, impromptu singing and camaraderie from 9 pm until midnight.

YAA Friday Lectures & Tours

Friday morning, we will feature several of Yale's distinguished faculty members, as well as some special tours around campus, and children's activities (May 23-26 only) at Yale's museums.

University Welcome Reception

Friday evening begins for all classes with a wine tasting and cheese cornucopia on Cross Campus.

Morning at Yale

Reunion attendees from all classes will have their choice of a number of stimulating faculty lectures; tours of the gym and the Newberry organ; a singing workshop; and children's activities (May 25 only) at Yale's museums.

Special Events

Receptions and other events sponsored by a variety of cultural houses, departments, and programs are scheduled throughout the weekend. Look for gatherings at the Afro-American, Asian American, Native American, and Latino Cultural Centers, as well as events organized by Dwight Hall, GALA (LGBT Alumni/ae), Directed Studies and Athletics, to name a few.

Family Festival

Alumni and their children will spend a fun filled afternoon (May 25 only) in the Lanman Center at Payne Whitney Gym. Enjoy carnival games, a moon bounce and climbing wall, and other activities.

President’s University Update

Saturday afternoon, Peter Salovey '86 Ph.D. offers his annual review and outlook for Yale.

Celebration of Yale Singing

President Salovey's update is followed by a jamboree in Woolsey Hall. Alumni from a cappella groups and the Glee Club will perform, and we'll be singing old Yale songs and Bright College Years. We definitely encourage participation!

Residential College Open Houses

Staff will be on hand to host visits from alumni to their residential college. Access will be limited to the courtyard, but there will be plenty to see!

University Worship

Join Yale's ecumenical Christian community for Sunday worship, which will include prayers for alumni who have died, a sermon by an alumnus from one of the reunion classes, and wonderful music and liturgy.
