Biography
Rich Simons has been a police officer at Yale Public Safety for over 30 years. He has been primarily involved with community-based policing around the Yale campus and with New Haven community partners. He is the recipient of numerous professional honors and awards, including the Official Citation for Police Officer of the Year Award (Connecticut), “Salute to Connecticut’s Finest” Police Officer of the Year Award (Exchange Club of Greater New Haven), and Yale University’s Linda Lorimer Award for Distinguished Service. But perhaps the biggest honor in his career was being selected in 2020 to be a facility/service dog handler with his great partner, Heidi.
